Project Overview
Looga is a language-learning app designed to teach Arabic in a fun, engaging, and personalized way. Unlike traditional apps, Looga focuses on helping users learn and express themselves in various Arabic dialects at their own pace. Whether users want to impress a loved one or communicate with family, Looga offers a unique and accessible approach to learning Arabic, making it perfect for beginners and casual learners alike.

Challenges
As a direct competitor to established language-learning platforms like Duolingo, Looga needed a unique user experience that would:
- Differentiate it from existing language apps by emphasizing dialect-specific learning and personalized pacing.
- Allow users of other platforms to easily adapt and transition to Looga without feeling overwhelmed or lost.
- Maintain an intuitive interface while highlighting Looga’s distinct features, such as learning Arabic for specific social contexts (e.g., speaking with family or friends).

Approach
To create an optimal user experience, I started by immersing myself in the competitive landscape. Over the course of few months, I extensively tested and evaluated multiple language-learning platforms, including Duolingo and Babbel. I analyzed their strengths, weaknesses, and key user engagement strategies, compiling a detailed list of what worked well and what didn’t.
Using this research, I designed a UX tailored to Looga’s core value proposition: dialect-specific, personalized learning. I ensured that the app’s interface was simple and engaging, making it easy for users to jump in and start learning without friction. Special attention was given to user onboarding, navigation, and progression tracking to maximize user engagement and retention.

Results
The new UX design resulted in:
- Increased user engagement, with early testers reporting a higher level of satisfaction compared to other language-learning apps.
- Improved brand trust, as the app now presents a polished and professional look that reflects its innovative approach.
- Positive client feedback, highlighting how the UX design helped differentiate Looga from its competitors.
