United Siyafunda

Project Overview
United Siyafunda is a South African nonprofit dedicated to addressing the inequality in education and the lack of access to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education in under-resourced schools and communities across Africa.
Through collaborative relationships with schools, community organizations, and businesses, United Siyafunda provides coding and robotics training programs aimed at empowering learners and fostering innovation.

Challenges
United Siyafunda needed a distinctive brand identity to stand out in a highly competitive and saturated market. Although they were known by key players in the space, they lacked a unique and memorable visual identity. When placed alongside other similar organizations, their brand blended in, making it difficult to distinguish them and their impact.


Approach
To create a standout brand identity, I conducted an in-depth competitor analysis to understand what was lacking in the market and how United Siyafunda could differentiate itself. I identified an opportunity to make the brand more modern, vibrant, and kid-friendly, appealing to both young learners and community partners.
I also developed a new slogan: “Empowering Minds, Bridging Futures”. This tagline emphasizes the organization’s dual mission of providing high-quality STEM education and opening future opportunities for under-resourced communities. It was designed to inspire and convey United Siyafunda’s long-term vision of creating lasting educational impact.
