Project Overview

The University of Toronto sought to create a dedicated lectureship to honor the legacy of Professor Hugh Gunz, a distinguished academic. They wanted a website that would not only celebrate Professor Gunz’s journey but also engage users through an interactive and modern platform. The goal was to inspire visitors to learn more about the lectureship and its impact while maintaining alignment with the University’s overall brand identity.

Challenges

The primary challenge was to design a light, interactive website that avoided being overly text-heavy while keeping users engaged with the story of Professor Hugh Gunz. Additionally, the website needed to align with the University of Toronto’s branding guidelines while still standing out as a unique and memorable digital experience.

Approach

I began by thoroughly reviewing the University of Toronto’s branding guidelines and studying other lectureship websites within the UofT ecosystem. This helped ensure that the design was consistent with the University’s identity while offering something fresh and exciting.

The website design was focused on telling the story of Professor Hugh Gunz, placing more emphasis on his journey and achievements than on UofT itself. I incorporated interactive elements, such as dynamic content sections and engaging visuals, to create a more immersive user experience. The clean, modern layout ensured that users could easily navigate the site and find key information without being overwhelmed by text.
